Preliminary Cost Assessment

A Preliminary Cost Assessment is a memorandum sent to a customer that has requested a projected cost for proposed new construction, renovations or other work that modifies any physical entities or utilities on Campus.

Detailed Workflow

New Process for Preliminary Cost Assessments (outside Unifier), as of September 2015

When a Service Request is received from a Campus department, requesting a projected cost for new construction, renovations, or any other work affecting a physical entity or utility on Campus, an Estimator is assigned.  The Estimator obtains background information on the work site and meets with the Customer to review all the project requirements.  Then, the Estimator writes a memo to the customer with a Projected Cost. This memo is the Preliminary Cost Assessment.  The memo goes through a review process by the Senior Estimator and Director of PDC, and is sent to the Customer by PDC Administrative Support.  The project is kept on file until such time as the customer provides authorization to proceed with the design of the project.  All preliminary background materials gathered by the Estimator are added to the Meridian Archives by Facilities Information Services.
